Thinking Government
What is It?
Whose Idea was It?
Who Is it for?
How much of it do we Need?
Who controls It?
Can we do without Government?
As much as I try to refrain from asking the obvious, the compulsive nature of thought and thinking makes it imperative for one to enquire.
Factly, not all enquiries uncover truth, neither do all questions get satisfactory answers; hence, the quest for truth and acceptable answers will continue.
As I search for answers to the above nagging questions on government, governance and the governed; I will indulge you to join me. If only we think.

I think if government is for the people then we should need government but when it is used for the benefit of a few individuals it becomes needless.
I totally agree with you. Goverment as we were taught is for the people by the people and not a few individuals.
The concept of government and governance must be clearly understood. We can not do without government, whether bad one or good one. What we can do is work together to fashoin out the kind of government we want.
Since independence, Nigeria has got the concept of governance wrong, and that accounts for the situation today. We borrow our concept from colonialism, whose job mainly was to protect the queen’s interest against the interest of the colonized; if we must have a good system of government, our system must realize there is no queen any more, and if a president or governor destroys his teritory, there will be no England to run to and the ruins of his rein will hunt him after office.
I have been thinking about colonialism in recent time and it relationship with the bad leadership and mis-governance we have in Africa today.
My conclusion thus far indicates that the dearth of leadership we have today was inherited from the colonialist.
Most disheartening is the fact that most of them acts as the colonialist with their tendency to siphon our common resource and stash them in the colonialists bank accounts.
Like it is said, “a goat that make the mistake of urinating on its sleeping spot will have to sleep standing”.
